home > Local Goverment > Restoring the Foundation of the Burra Charter
Project Location: Burra, South Australia
The Regional Council of Goyder has proposed to upgrade a number of heritage buildings and sites upon which Australia's Burra Charter was created. This includes conservation and restoration works to the famous Paxton Square Cottages, Burra Town Hall & Art Gallery, Unicorn Brewery and the Burra Railway Station. This project focuses on not only restoration of the buildings and sites, but also increasing tourism to Burra and the region. Therefore additional projects are also being considered such as building of a new Visitor Information and Tourist Centre at the Paxton Square Cottages and a bike track along Burra Creek, connecting the towns of Burra and Burra North.
