McLaughlin Park

Wattle Range Council

Project Location: Millicent, South Australia

The Wattle Range Council in partnership with the Millicent community and sporting clubs has developed a Concept Plan to upgrade the sporting facilities at McLaughlin Park. The new facility will include:

  • Provision of a 'Main Entrance' to the site from Plunkett Terrace;
  • Car parking for 300 cars adjacent to the entrance with additional parks around the oval and on the Northern side of the complex, totaling approximately 500;
  • Basketball stadium with 3 indoor courts & changerooms (current)
  • Football/Cricket oval (current), home and away changerooms built to AFL preferred facilities standards with umpires room;
  • Baseball Diamond;
  • Softball, soccer & hockey oval;
  • 7 Tennis/Netball courts including one 'Show Court' with provision of space for additional future courts;
  • Gymnastics/Kinda-Gym & changeroom;
  • Community Multi-use area/Badminton;
  • Indoor 25m swimming Pool;
  • Little Athletics;
  • Function Centre (2nd storey with views over the football/cricket oval & show court), with provision to divide bar facilities from separate functions;
  • Kitchen facilities with capacity to cater for large events;
  • Licensed facilities;
  • Consultation rooms for Health Professionals including Cardio Room;
  • Community rooms for meetings and activities;
  • Hydrotherapy Pool;
  • Gym & Fitness Studio;
  • Creche;
  • Childrens Gaming Room;
  • Outdoor Playground;
  • Kiosk/Café
     
     
    Tony Stacey Management Consulting, as part of a project management team which also consisted of SportDev Australia & Beach DC, assisted the Council and Community to produce the overall Masterplan, Project and Business Plans and a Federal funding application.
