Project Location: Burra
The pool and its surrounds are currently in excellent condition, however, the complex lacks change room and toileting facilities.
Currently, the facilities in the nearby gymnasium of the Community School are being utilised but display both safety and security issues to users of the pool. In order to reach the current change rooms, patrons must leave the confines of the complex and walk up stairs and into another separate building.
It is proposed to extend the existing building at the Southern end of the pool in order to provide suitable facilities to combat this problem. The Eastern end of the building will remain as the kiosk and office while the plant room will be moved to stand alone at the Western end of the building. The building will be extended in order to construct separate male and female change rooms and toilet facilities.
The existing disabled toilet and change room will remain. Both the male and female facilities will comprise two showers each with changing areas and suitable toilet facilities. A chemical storage area is also a priority to ensure chlorine and other dangerous chemicals involved with pool maintenance are locked away from children.
